A soft wood carving of a snarling Lion. The Lion is shown sitting on its haunches with head thrust forward with mouth open in mid-roar. Its right paw rests on an embroidered ball, symbol of the earth or sacred pearl of potentiality while underneath there are two pups emerging from each side. The Lion was considered the Protector Guardian of all that is held sacred. He is considered to be the King of the Terrestrial while the Dragon is the King of everything celestial. Many businesses to this day still display a pair of Lions in front of corporate buildings or shop fronts. Normally seen in pairs (one male and one female) this lion shows attributes of both genders protecting both the businesses finances (represented by the globe) as well as the future of the family.
